Our Guide to the Energy
Bill Relief Scheme

The UK Government have announced their support package for businesses this winter, but what does this mean for you?

Who Qualifies?

  • The scheme is available to all UK businesses, including charities and public sector organisations

  • All UK businesses that have agreed to a contract on or after 1 April 2022

  • All UK businesses signing new fixed-price contracts

  • All UK businesses on deemed and variable rates regardless of the start date

  • All UK businesses on a flexible purchase or similar contracts

Are there any exclusions?

Businesses that use gas or electricity for the purpose of generating power they are selling back to the grid.

How does the scheme work?

  • Discounts will be calculated by the government and automatically applied to customers' bills by suppliers for an initial six-month period, starting from 1st October 2022.

  • Customers will see the discount in their November bill(s).

  • The discount will vary from customer to customer depending on the wholesale costs when they signed their contracts

What do customers need to do?

  • Customers do not need to take any action. The discount will automatically be applied to their bills and will vary based on the wholesale price on the date their contract was signed.

  • The discounted rates will be communicated in the coming weeks for existing contracts once finalised by the government.

  • Customers will first see the discount in their November bill(s) and it should be shown as a separate discounted line on the invoice.

  • The government discount will be the same for all qualifying businesses who signed on the same date no matter who supplies their energy.
